Applications are now open for the Africa Law and Technology Festival scheduled for 6th – 10th March 2020. Hosted by the Lawyers Hub in Kenya with the support of Omidyar Network, the Africa Law Tech Festival 2020 is the first of its kind on the Continent, aimed at bringing together various leaders from across Africa in Law and Technology sectors.
The Festival will create a space where conversations around policy issues in emerging technologies, the role of tech in promoting access to justice, rule of law and law reform will be achieved. Africa’s place in the global tech landscape is rapidly changing.
Internet penetration in the Continent is at an all-time high, with tech disrupting almost every sector, from communication to manufacturing to identity and education. The law is not to be left behind.
African policymakers are hard at work to make sure the tech space is well regulated including proposals for taxation of the digital economy, regulation of social media, introductions for digital identities and limitations on internet freedoms. We at the Africa Law Tech festival acknowledge the need for collaboration to strengthen the cross-section of law and tech fields in Africa today with a view to enhance innovation and spur economic growth in Africa.
This Festival will entail the Academy offering an opportunity for curious minds to propel their quest for knowledge all things legal-tech and or tech policy for non-lawyers, a brilliant and vibrant way to begin the journey of learning the inner workings of the Law Tech world. The Academy will run from 6th March to 8th March 2020,
